The Death of France's Multiculturalism
October 2000, Place de la République in Paris: the first of what would become an endless series of ambiguous pro-Palestinian demonstrations welcomed the snake of anti-Semitism into its heart. “Death to the Jews” rang out loud and clear that day as policemen stood by, journalists watched with apparent indifference, and the mass of demonstrators thronged and thrust as demonstrators do.8 March 2005, Place de la République: a thousand young toughs pierced the heart of a student demonstration and unleashed their rage…not against the police but against the “privileged classes” in their own age group...From 2000 to 2003, Pro-Palestinian / anti-war demonstrations in Paris habitually ended with flag burnings, destruction of public property, and Hamas salutes. The jihadi contingent, the Saddamites, the apologists for terrorism came to dominate the peace movement...in addition to the usual jihad contingent, a horde of skuzzy beer-drinking anarchists paraded with their pitbulls and rotweilers, promising “à Paris comme à Falluja la guerilla vaincra [in Paris, in Falluja, guerilla warriors will win].”...
CBS B.S. Continues...Lies Lies Lies Nobody Else Mentioned
The CBS article that went public before Terri Schiavos Death erroneously alleged that Jeb Bush ordered the feeding tube pulled the second time. Many mentioned the accidental CBS article that went public saying Terri Schiavo died before she actually did...but I have yet to see someone else mention the lies in it..."The feeding tube was twice removed and then reinserted...once through an emergency court order and once on the order of Florida Governor Jeb Bush..."
Fact:Jeb and George Bush did everything legally possible to save Terri Schiavo...In the opinion of many, they along with congress went too far.In any event Jeb Bush never ordered the tube removed, his order for her not to be starved to death was ruled unconstitutional by the courts.Cristine Lagorio and CBS should get their story straight....click on title for the bogus CBS story...false statement about Jeb Bush page 2 @ bottom.

Spain risks US anger by selling arms to Chavez
Spain's socialist Prime Minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, has been forced to defend a decision to sell arms worth €1.3bn (£900m) to the left-wing Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, in a deal condemned by the opposition as "a monstrous error". Link
"I speak on behalf of the Spanish people when assuring that Spain will always be at the Venezuelan people"s side in the peaceful construction of a fair democracy", stressed Zapatero.

House Panel Appproves Jessica Lunsford Act
TALLAHASSEE, FL (AP) -- A House panel has moved a bill to track sex offenders.
The bill was approved unanimously today by the House Criminal Justice Committee.
It's named the Jessica Lunsford Act for the little girl from Homosassa whose body was found March 19th.The man accused of her murder was a registered sex offender who was on probation at the time. The bill was sponsored by Representative Charlie Dean who is the former sheriff of Citrus County where Jessica lived.Click on title for link.
The Miami Herald opines "MORE VIGILANCE OF RELEASED SEX OFFENDERS NEEDED"...and so do we.
"Jessica Lunsford's death...is a tragedy...the corruption and destruction of innocence by unmitigated evil. Her death is made worse by the knowledge that this is not the first time it has happened and probably not the last, either. A number of things went wrong in the events leading up to the death of Jessica, but the long and short of it is that a convicted criminal out on probation who never should have come close to a child got lost in the system. As a result, a child who deserved protection did not have it"... Link

Europe hopeful of change in Cuba bringing engagement
The last time Louis Michel, the European Union's commissioner for development and humanitarian aid, was in Havana he rode a Harley Davidson down a balmy Malecon, the city's picturesque seaside drive. That was in 2001 when he was Belgium's foreign minister. Mr Michel was back over the Easter weekend looking to mend the EU's tattered ties with the Communist run island two years after President Fidel Castro locked up 75 pro-democracy activists. This time a motorcycle ride did not seem appropriate...click title for story.
The motorcycle ride was not appropriate in 2001 either nor is all the hollywood chumps going to smoke cigars with Castro. As for the "change in Cuba",get real,Castro is a communist murderer, the people are starving and medical conditions are outright discusting.Basic human rights do not exist and law is as dictated by a group of individuals who will just as quickly place you before a firing squad or lock you up for years in horrid conditions.Forget a phone call or a day in court...Hopefully our "Castro Deathwatch" here In The Loop will come to an end sooner than later. It's a shame how warped a view people have of Cuba and flock by the millions to put Cash in Castros pocket while the people starve.

The entertainment industry and file sharing companies are set for a battle Supreme
The U.S. Supreme Court will hold a landmark hearing Tuesday in MGM v. Grokster, an intellectual property case that will help set the legal boundaries for copying files from the Internet. The case pits the entertainment industry against companies that offer file sharing services. A group of 28 movie and record companies are fighting StreamCast (the distributor of Morpheus) and Grokster, the peer-to-peer software firms.Tuesday’s hearing is part of an appeal by the entertainment industry of a federal judge’s ruling last year in the case against the file-sharing firms. The judge found that the defendants shouldn’t be held liable for end users committing copyright infringement, citing the 1984 Sony Betamax case, where Sony won the right to sell its home video tape recorder while the movie industry fought to ban VCR sales...
Last Years Ruling was favorable... "The introduction of new technology is always disruptive to old markets...Yet, history has shown that time and market forces often provide equilibrium in balancing interests, whether the new technology be a player, piano, a copier, a tape recorder, a video recorder, a personal computer, a karaoke machine, or an MP3 player. Thus, it is prudent for courts to exercise caution before restructuring liability theories for the purpose of addressing specific market abuses..."

Schiavo's Parents Run Out of Legal Options
PINELLAS PARK, Fla. Mar 27, 2005 — Under increased security and fading hopes, Terri Schiavo's parents asked supporters to return home to spend Easter Sunday with their families as Terri went a ninth day without food or water....
Unless there's a miracle or some new development in this story Terri Schiavo will be dead soon. For those who are fighting for her "right to die" you will soon get what you want.Personally I hope something positive can come out of this and that none of us are further divided after this is over.In America the debate is the freedom and if we could not speak our minds and hold our own opinions on different issues there would be no freedom. For some the Bush's, George and Jeb have not done enough(these people want an Elian style action by the state to take her into custody)which was in the works but stopped, others believe them and congress have gone too far.I have concerns about the legal ramifications as many people should. This should not be about Democrat or Republican....even if we disagree,I respect your opinion on the matter. For as many people as there are in America on the side of her husband and pulling the tube there are as many of us who just refuse to accept her husbands word on the matter without legal documentation & we wouldn't starve our pets and we sure as hell wouldn't want to starve another human being to death.
I'm headed out on my buddies boat to Elliot Key....everyone have a nice Easter...pray for The Schiavos,The Lunsfords,The Gages, all coalition troops & our proud men and women in the armed forces serving worldwide.Be safe...

In Memory of Air Rescue Crew "Komodo 11"
On March 23rd, 2003 a pair of HH-60's scrambled from Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. The mission was an urgent medevac needed to save the lives of two injured Afghani children. One of the helicopters crashed and all of it's crew was killed. The downed chopper was using the call sign "Komodo 11."
Bob Holler sent the following email after the crash of Komodo 11. "The word is already out. It's in the news. A helicopter crashed in Afghanistan while trying to prosecute a mission. It was a rescue helicopter and two of the deceased are from my unit. Although I can't tell details or names, I can tell you they will be missed. Let's not forget the "other" war that's still going on in Afghanistan. A poem I wrote in the last couple of hours..."
I sit here and type this with tears in my eyes,
the world is not right now, I just lost two guys.
Flying to rescue someone they'd save,
their helo just crashed, an H-60 PAVE.
The helo they flew in crashed to the ground,
leaving only "survivors", their loved ones, around.
One was experienced, the other still new,
they died in the service of both me and you.
They both knew the risks, we accept them like faith,
but once in awhile, death rears like a wraith.
Of one thing I'm certain, they died not in vain,
if it were two others, they'd both fly again.
And fly again, the rest of us will,
if for no other reason then to keep our minds still.
To get back on that horse and ride it away,
to reinforce why we wear the maroon beret.
We lost two brothers and though we are sad,
we'll celebrate their lives, the lives they had.
Lives by the motto, lives we will give,
These Things We Do, That Others May Live.
HOO YAH!!!

Two more kids have kidney infections after visiting petting zoo
Two more children have been stricken with life-threatening kidney infections after visiting petting zoos, officials at central Florida hospitals said Thursday.
At least nine children have come down with hemolytic uremic syndrome, or HUS, after recently touching animals at fairs in central Florida - and the number of cases could grow."We do have some information that some outlying ERs have cases of diarrhea in children who have been to petting zoos," said Dr. Mehul Dixit, who is treating some of the children at Florida Hospital Orlando.Bloody diarrhea is a symptom of HUS, along with lethargy, anemia and decreased urine output.HUS is a rare complication arising from an initial infection most commonly associated with E. coli, a bacterium found in undercooked beef or contaminated food. The hospitalized children all touched animals recently at area fairs, including the Central Florida Fair in Orlando and the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City. They might have been exposed to the bacteria through the animals' feces, officials said.

Paula Abdul charged in hit-and-run
"American Idol" judge Paula Abdul was charged Thursday with hit-and-run driving for allegedly fleeing after her car clipped another vehicle on a freeway last December.
The city attorney's office filed the misdemeanor count, which carries a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.A message left for Abdul's spokeswoman wasn't immediately returned.Authorities contend Abdul was driving Dec. 20 on a highway about 15 miles northwest of downtown when she changed lanes and struck another vehicle, causing minor damage.

Miami experience helped me: Sharapova
Maria Sharapova believes the experience she gained at last year's Nasdaq-100 Open helped her win Wimbledon. The Russian teenager reached the last 16 in Miami before losing 6-4, 6-3 to eventual champion Serena Williams, the player she beat in the Wimbledon final four months later."It definitely helped me with experience. I had never played her before," said Sharapova.
Selena: One of us
"Mexican-Americans admired the Texas singer. In her they saw themselves, their daughters and neighbors. Even 10 years after her death, she is remembered, mourned and loved.
Tejano queen Selena Quintanilla Perez was on the verge of breaking into American pop. The Texas native had just recorded her first English-language CD and appeared in a movie with Marlon Brando and Johnny Depp. But the 23-year-old's promising career came to an abrupt and tragic end when her fan club president shot and killed her. The death of the popular young star reverberated in the Mexican-American community, sparking candlelight vigils and tributes throughout the nation. Ten years later her presence endures. Canada denies refugee status to US Iraq war deserter
Canada denied refugee status to a US soldier who fled his unit rather than fight in Iraq, in a judgement issued by immigration authorities. Jeremy Hinzman, 26, had filed for refugee protection arguing he would face persecution for his political beliefs or cruel or unusual punishment if returned to the United States."The Refugee Protection Division (RPD) found Mr. Hinzman, his wife and son not to be Convention refugees or persons in need of protection and rejected their claims for refugee protection," said the judgement issued by Canada's Immigration and Refugee Board.

In Emergency Filing, Schiavo's Parents Appeal to Supreme Court to Reinsert Daughter's Feeding Tube
Their legal options nearly exhausted, Terri Schiavo's parents made a desperate appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday, asking justices to order resumption of nourishment for their severely brain-damaged daughter. The late-night appeal followed rapid-fire developments in the case, with a federal appeals court refusing to order the reinsertion of Schiavo's feeding tube and the Florida Legislature deciding not to intervene in the epic struggle. Refusing to give up, Gov. Jeb Bush sought court permission to take custody of Schiavo, who was on her fifth day without food or water.

Tribe puts limits on shooting coverage
The 16-year-old gunman who killed nine people and himself on a remote Indian reservation professed admiration for Hitler and doodled swastikas on his high school notebook, according to a schoolmate and one of his relatives.Police in this Indian reservation town have imposed strict limits on journalists trying to cover the nation's deadliest school shooting since Columbine, even arresting two photographers who allegedly violated the rules..."Exiting this road constitutes trespassing," according to a flyer handed out by tribal officials. Will Bush Go "Nuclear" on Democrats?
Democrats are still threatening to shut down Senate business and grind government to a halt. On the steps of the capitol on Tuesday, Reid threatened to shut down the Senate over the issue of filibusters of President Bush's judicial nominations. Exempt from Reid's shutdown would be matters of national defense and spending needed to ensure ongoing federal operations. The Republicans, for their part, have dismissed the Democratic fire and brimstone label of a "nuclear option," and have instead called possible Senate rule changes the "Constitutional option."

Options in Schiavo case dwindling
The parents of Terri Schiavo begged a federal appeals court in Atlanta Tuesday to restore a feeding tube to their daughter before she dies.It was the latest step in a wrenching public campaign that has already prompted intervention by Congress and President Bush.Lawyers for Bob and Mary Schindler appealed to a three-judge panel on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after a federal judge in Tampa denied their request. A tearful Mary Schindler urged Florida lawmakers to pass a law requiring that Schiavo be fed and given liquids. The appeals court didn't indicate when it might rule, but George Felos, the attorney for Terri's husband, Michael Schiavo, told the Associated Press that he expected a decision before daybreak Wednesday.

In memory of Jessica Lunsford...Oct. 6, 1995-2005.Our Hearts and Prayers go out to family and friends suffering in this sad tragedy.
As the days come and go and the world moves on,
I know you're still here, you'll never be gone.
On the night the Angel came and took your hand,
We cried as you left for an unknown land.
But Heaven rejoiced as you came into sight,
For your soul was a diamond, shining so bright!

Jessica Lunsford Found Dead After Month Long Search
The body of a 9-year-old Florida girl was found Saturday, more than three weeks after she disappeared from her bedroom.
Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy said Jessica Lunsford's body was found during an overnight search in a densely wooded area, only about 150 yards away from the home the girl shared with her father and grandparents. The discovery comes a day after officials said a registered sex offender confessed to kidnapping and killing the girl.Dawsy said four other people are being charged in connection with the case. He said three are charged with obstruction for failing to notify police when the suspect, John Couey, allegedly told them he had committed a crime. A fourth faced an unrelated child support charge."We're en route to bring him back home," said Dawsy, who added that he wants Couey to face the death penalty. "This guy is not a quality person, by any means. ... He's truly a piece of trash."

'One huge US jail'
"Afghanistan is the hub of a global network of detention centres, the frontline in America's 'war on terror', where arrest can be random and allegations of torture commonplace.
Only the 17,000-strong US forces, with their all-terrain Humvees and Apache attack helicopters, have the run of the land, and they have used the haze of fear and uncertainty that has engulfed the country to advance a draconian phase in the war against terror. Afghanistan has become the new Guantánamo Bay.
Washington likes to hold up Afghanistan as an exemplar of how a rogue regime can be replaced by democracy. Meanwhile, human-rights activists and Afghan politicians have accused the US military of placing Afghanistan at the hub of a global system of detention centres where prisoners are held incommunicado and allegedly subjected to torture"

5-Year-Old Cuffed, "Arrested" in Florida
5-Year-Old Girl Cuffed After School Outburst
St. Petersburg, Florida 5-year-old girl was cuffed and put in back of a police cruiser after an outburst at school where she threw books and boxes, kicked a teacher in the shins, smashed a candy dish, hit an assistant principal in the stomach and drew on the walls...Her hands were bound with plastic ties, her ankles in handcuffs."I don't want to go to jail," she said.No charges were filed and the girl went home with her mother. While police say their actions were proper, school officials were not pleased with the outcome.
She was definitely "detained","seized",and maybe you could call it a "defacto arrest" since she was cuffed and placed in a police cruiser...I wonder if she was read her Miranda Warnings?

House Panel Seeks to Keep Terri Schiavo Alive
House Panel Plans to Issue Subpoenas to Stop Removal of Brain-Damaged Woman's Feeding Tube
Working against the clock, House lawmakers tried to prevent doctors in Florida from removing the feeding tube Friday from a severely brain-damaged woman.
In a two-pronged approach, a House committee was issuing congressional subpoenas to stop doctors from disconnecting the tube, while an attorney for the parents of the woman, Terri Schiavo, said he would ask a federal judge in Tampa to block the removal and review the actions of state courts.
Such habeas corpus appeals seek to require the government to justify its actions...The feeding tube is to be removed today, once removed it could take a week or more for Terri to slowly die.

F-18 Flyover
"People living in Pinellas County got an unexpected shock. Several people called us in the newsroom claiming they heard a loud boom and felt their homes shake. It wasn't an earthquake... but it was two Navy F-18 jets flying to MacDill Air Force base from Pensacola. The jets went super sonic over the gulf of Mexico. In fact the u-s geological society says the sonic boom registered at least a 2-point 7 on the Richter scale. MacDill says they are checking in to any rules violations..."
"Rules Violations"...you've got to be kidding...Hearing military jets flyover is neat and lets you know their up there like the eyes in the sky.For all we know they were doing a test or something involving an emergency situation & them going supersonic and getting from point A to point B asap.

Laws Don't Always Favor 'Upskirting' Victims
Outraged victims of "upskirting," the photographs taken secretly from underneath victims' skirts and blouses, are coming forward. However, NBC News reported that the law doesn't always favor those victims.Bunny Brunt's teenage daughter, Raquel, was a victim of upskirting last summer...the suspect, Jeffrey Swisher, served only 10 days in jail for disorderly conduct. Many victims of video voyeurism have no idea they're being photographed. People hide the cameras -- now smaller and less noticeable on gadgets like cell phones -- in bags near their unsuspecting victims. The pictures can end up on the Internet."We had the evidence," Bunny Brunt said. "We had the tape. But they told me there's ... nothing in the law that says you can't shoot in a public area."

Schoolyard bullies get nastier online
When Joanne had a row with a longtime friend last year, she had no idea it would spill into cyberspace.
But what started as a spat at a teenage sleepover swiftly escalated into a three-month harangue of threatening e-mails and defacement of her weblog. "It was a non-stop nightmare," says Joanne, 14, a freshman at a private high school in Southern California. "I dreaded going on my computer."

For The Record
As Americans we Honor Italy's Slain Intelligence Officer and feel awful about the incident. However, when statements by Giuliana Sgrena blame US forces and falsely accuse them of purposefully intending to kill her, they must be challenged and sifted through facts...
Although a large majority of Italians support the U.S. & the war in Iraq, just like here, there are dissenters there as well. Giuliana Sgrena is affiliated with il Manifesto .Communist propaganda spewers in Italy.Overall Italy and it's government have been our supporters & we thank you for that.

It is an outright miscarriage of the truth to say US Forces did this on purpose. She was a hostage,a ransom was paid & according to preliminary reports the vehicle she was traveling in refused to stop @ a checkpoint.
This is a regrettable incident,we mourn the loss of the Italian intelligence officer & we support the troops who perceived a threat(a car headed straight for them they may have thought was loaded with explosives) & responded. We stand by Italy but we cannot stand for outright lies.
