Person of interest sought in Florida missing girl case
Police in Citrus County, Florida, are looking for a man they are calling a "person of interest" in the case of a missing 9-year-old Homosassa girl, a sheriff's department spokeswoman.The man is someone they believe may have come into contact with Jessica Lunsford before she disappeared.However, the man is not considered a suspect and no arrests are imminent.A 14-member task force has been assigned to work the case full time. The group is composed of representatives from the sheriff's offices in Citrus and neighboring Hernando counties, along with the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.Jessica is 4 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 70 pounds and has light brown hair -- was last reported wearing a pink nightgown. Savannah Chatham County Police Sgt. Mike Wilson said the man was found in a Salvation Army shelter, where officers conducted an interview Sunday after Citrus County officials asked them to speak to him. But since there wasn't a warrant for his arrest, investigators released the man, Wilson said.
