Carrie Underwood, the pride of Checotah, Okla., was named the new "American Idol" at the end of last night's telecast, fulfilling judge Simon Cowell's prophecy.But Cowell last night also praised America for "getting it absolutely right" by making Bo Bice, a nimble blues-influenced singer from Helena, Ala., first runner-up.
