American Idol Finalist Staying On Show Despite Past Felony Arrest, Network Says

An "American Idol" finalist will remain on the show despite revelations about his past runins with the law.Fox issued a statement after the The Smoking Gun posted an article and legal documents that showed Scott Savol was once arrested for felony domestic violence after he allegedly roughed up his infant son's mother during a Valentine's Day dispute. Savol, one of the nine remaining contestants on the show eventually entered a plea bargain in the case, and the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor."Scott Savol was forthcoming to the American Idol producers and the network regarding his misdemeanor," said Fox and 'Idol' producers in a statement. "After reviewing the facts, in which the charges were reduced to disorderly conduct, we felt that considering Scott's honesty and his remorse, the situation did not warrant his disqualification."
