Hurricane Season is Here...Be Prepared

It rained all night...and it's still raining...the wind is @ about 35kph here in Miami...
...Arlene strengthens in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico......Hurricane Watch and Tropical Storm Warning issued for thenorthern Gulf Coast...
at 11 am...1500 UTC...a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for
the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico from Grand Isle Louisiana
to St Marks Florida...including Lake Pontchartrain. Also at 11 am
...A Hurricane Watch has been issued from the mouth of the Pearl
River to Panama City Florida. A Tropical Storm Warning means that
tropical storm conditions are expected within the warning area
within the next 24 hours. A Hurricane Watch means that hurricane
conditions are possible within the watch area...generally within 36
hours.
I was living here in this same house years ago when hurricane Andrew ripped through South Florida and left many of us shell shocked.Since then we have learned to prepare and plan ahead for the worst possible scenario...Behind my house there are 2 palm trees that must be about 100 feet tall each...they made it through Andrew and have been my wind measuring guages ever since...as I sit here and type this they are swaying like they only do during hurrincane season...That eerie feeling created by wind, rain, tornado warnings and flash flood warnings is proclaiming hurricane season is here...Time to pull out the weather scanner and crank the drama up another notch.....
