al-Qaeda No. 2 Disparages U.S. on Reform

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - al-Qaida (website - news) 's No. 2 leader released a new videotape disparaging the U.S. concept of reform in the Middle East and condemning assaults on women during anti-government demonstrations in Egypt last month, the broadcaster Al-Jazeera said Friday. Ayman al-Zawahri also criticized the Pakistani, Saudi and Egyptian governments, in the videotape, the Arab broadcaster said.Al-Zawahri is the deputy of Osama bin Laden (news - bio) in the al-Qaida terrorist network. He is a doctor who was imprisoned in Egypt for Islamic militancy. After his release, he moved to Afghanistan where he merged his militant faction with bin Laden's in the late 1990s...
