Schiavo Autopsy Released

The autopsy report on Terri Schiavo, a US woman who died in March amid a heated national debate on the right-to-life, shows she had suffered severely irreversible brain damage. “Her brain was profoundly atrophied,” Pinellas County Medical examiner, Jon Thogmartin, told a Florida press conference. He said Mrs Schiavo’s brain was “roughly half the expected weight of a human brain.” The examiner also dismissed allegations made by her parents that she had been abused by her husband, Michael Schiavo, before her collapse in 1990. “No traumas were noted in any of the numerous physical exams or radiographs performed on Mrs Schiavo” and “no evidence of strangulation was found.”...
