U.S. Transportation Security Head Stone to Resign
David Stone will resign as head of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, the third leader to depart since 2002 from the agency in charge of protecting airports, railways and ports.
Stone, 52, will stay until June to help with the transition to his successor, the agency said in a statement today. Stone, who retired as a Navy rear admiral in 2002, was nominated for the job a year ago and confirmed by the Senate in July. He was named acting head in December 2003, replacing James Loy.
