Thousands remember Gallipoli
SYDNEY, Australia (CNN) Thousands of people have turned out in Australia for Anzac Day services marking the 90th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings, a vicious World War I campaign in which hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives.
Record crowds attended dawn services around the country remembering the sacrifices made by Australian and New Zealand troops, who under British command fought a nine-month battle against the Turkish forces on the Gallipoli peninsula in northwestern Turkey in 1915.
