Capital Murder Charge Filed In Killing Of Newton Deputy

NEWTON, Kan. A Newton man was charged Monday with capital murder in the weekend shooting death of a Harvey County sheriff's deputy.Gregory A. Moore, 46, is accused of opening fire on Deputy Kurt Ford and Hesston Police Detective Christopher Eilert when they barged into his home early Saturday.Authorities say Moore had slammed the door on the officers when they answered a call from a teenager saying her mother was being beaten.Ford, 38, was killed. Eilert was shot four times but survived.
